Energy works better in a loop. With enough support, we can bring free Kensa heat pumps to 450 Melbourn homes, along with cheaper energy rates and access to ultra-fast fibre broadband.

What’s an Energy Superloop?

It’s a local network that connects renewable energy sources, like wind or solar, with community infrastructure to create a smarter, greener, and more affordable way to power homes.

Project overview

Our vision is to create an Energy Superloop between Black Peak Solar Farm, a new local data centre, and the residents of Melbourn.

Electricity from the solar farm would power the data centre, and heat produced from the data centre would be recycled by residents with a heat pump — making their heating system even more efficient and cheap to run.

If you decide to be a part of this project, you could get a brand new heat pump and boiler for your home (installed for free or at a discounted rate), as well as free direct access to the ground source heat generated by the data centre, and the option to get ultra-fast fibre broadband.

Think of it as setting your home (and yourself) up for a future of cheaper bills — all thanks to locally-powered green energy!

How it would work

Community consultation:
To gauge interest within the village for a project like this, we’ll host a community event, followed by a public consultation, before anything is made official.
Data centre construction:
If we got the green light, we’d break ground on a new small-scale data centre located in X. We expect construction would take X weeks.
Heat pump fittings:
To size up where your new heat pump and boiler could go, we’ll work with you to find the best installation approach.
Installation:
It would take about X days to install pipes about Melbourn that can transport green energy, recycled heat, and ultra-fast fibre broadband right to your doorstep. Then about 2–3 days to install your new heating system.
Your savings start:
Once complete, you’d get to enjoy your new heating system, discounted energy bills, and cleaner, greener Melbourn!

Through this project, you’d get the opportunity to have a Kensa ground source heat pump and boiler installed in your home.
A ground source heat pump heats your home and water by drawing natural warmth from the ground — instead of from burning gas or oil. Pipes buried underground absorb this steady warmth and transfer it into your home, giving you a reliable, eco-friendly heating solution that lowers your energy bills without the emissions of conventional boilers.
